Windows Insider Email

Challenge

The Windows Insider program lets Microsoft communicate with Windows customers who are on pre-release builds, giving them the latest information about new features that appear on their desktops on a weekly basis. This communication process includes sending out frequent email communications to millions of subscribers in dozens of languages. The team needed an agile approach to creating, proofing, translating, sending, and tracking these emails to share information about new features.

Solution

Resources Online designed an agile process and team to create, translate, and send emails within two weeks of receipt of content. By using employees with expertise in multiple areas and teaming up with our translation partner, SDL, we were able to keep the team working on each email, cutting several weeks off of the prior process. Tightly managed checks at each stage in the process reduced rework further downstream, while still allowing for critical, late-breaking changes to be incorporated in to the final product.
