Accessibility Center of Excellence
Section 508 is a federal law mandating that all electronic and information technology developed, procured, maintained, or used by the federal government be accessible to people with disabilities.
Delivering content that meets Section 508 criteria isn’t just a requirement and it’s more than the right thing to do—it’s good business. Compliance ensures that the large cross-section of customers with disabilities has full and easy access to your website, products, and offerings.
Drawing on the resources in our Accessibility Center of Excellence, Resources Online can help you determine what’s required and how to implement it correctly.
Full-team approach. When you work with Resources Online, you get access to a team of project managers, writers, editors, developers, and testers with experience creating Section 508-compliant sites, software, and content. We wrote many of the guidelines used for creating accessible content with Microsoft products, and we created accessible Help content for many widely-used software products.
Certified Trusted Testers. Resources Online will assign our certified Trusted Testers, accredited by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Accessible Systems & Technology, to your project. Our Trusted Testers perform testing on your websites, applications, and documents to ensure Section 508 compliance, and they produce a report showing exactly what you need to do to achieve compliance. Our team can also implement compliance updates for your site or document collection—efficiently and accurately.
Content for multiple devices. Many devices have built-in tools for accessibility, and they work differently on each type of device. We document and test accessibility for a range of devices and platforms, including Windows PCs, Macs, Android tablets and phones, and iPads and iPhones.
Support for those using assistive technology. We write and test for those who use the most prevalent assistive tools, including Job Access With Speech (JAWS), Windows Narrator, VoiceOver, and TalkBack screen readers.
